Yesterday, Andy and I visited the town of Stavanger, Norway. It was pouring rain like it does in Beaverton, so Andy was ready to go with his umbrella. When I told him that we would be riding in a small boat, Andy got dressed up for the occasion. Do you know what he's wearing? We rode through a fjord on a boat, looking for animals. We only found one, and it was a white mountain goat at the top of a hill. It was raining hard, so you'll have to look hard to find it. We also saw some waterfalls along the way. Here's a picture of one of them. Today, we have been packing our bags and getting ready for the airplane ride home tomorrow. This will be our last post until we are back home in Oregon. Thanks for following Andy's European Adventure! See you at school in a few weeks! From, Ms. Adams and Andy

Yesterday, Andy and I visited the villages of Hellesylt and Geiranger, Norway. Our ship landed in Hellesylt and we then boarded a bus to tour the fjords and glaciers before meeting our ship in the village of Geiranger. The weather was beautiful! The sun was in the sky and there were no clouds to be seen. Because of this great weather, we were able to get some wonderful pictures. Here are some of the things that we saw yesterday. Later today, we are going out in the town of Stavanger where we will get on a small boat and look for whales, sea eagles, and seals. Stavanger will be the last place in Norway that we will visit before coming home. We will be at sea tomorrow and at the airport on Sunday. We will plan on posting at least one more time before returning to the United States. From, Ms. Adams and Andy
Today, Andy and I visited the village of Olden, Norway. There are only 700 people living in this town which is about the same as the number of students that go to McKinley School! To get to the shore from our ship, we had to take small boats called tenders. Here is Andy posing with a tender boat. We went on a boat ride in Lake Lovatnet and traveled to the end of the lake to visit Kjenndalen Glacier. While on the lake, we were able to take pictures of several glaciers, waterfalls, and huge mountains. Here are some of the things we saw. Once we docked the boat at the end of the lake, we hiked up to Kjenndalen Glacier. We were able to get close, but we did not go on the glacier because it is not safe. Here are some pictures of the glacier. Tomorrow, we are visiting the towns of Hellesylt and Geiranger which are the furthest north in Norway that we will travel. If you have any questions or would like to say hi to me or Andy, ask your parents and then leave us a comment. Remember, you do not need to leave an email address or a website, just your first name and your comment. Thanks to everyone that has stopped by and said hi! See you soon! From, Ms. Adams and Andy
Today we visited Flam, Norway. We took a train high into the mountains and then rode a bus back down to the ocean. We had some beautiful views. Here are some pictures of what we saw. Tomorrow, we will be visiting Olden, Norway. See you then. From Ms. Adams and Andy.
Andy and I visited the town of Bergen, Norway. We visited an area of the city called Bryggen which means Wharf in Norwegian. This is the most famous area of the city because it has the old fishing village in it. Here are some pictures of our time there. Then, we traveled on a boat through the fjords. It was really rainy so we didn't get very good pictures. Here are a few that we did get. From, Ms. Adams and Andy
Andy and I have been at sea on our ship since we last posted. Right now, we are on our way to Norway and will arrive in the town of Bergen tomorrow morning. One exciting thing that has happened since we last posted is that Andy and I were invited to meet the captain of our ship! Very few people actually get to talk with the captain and we were able to get our picture taken with him! Here is a picture of Andy and I with Captain Tony Yeomans. We'll have more pictures and updates tomorrow. See you then! From, Ms. Adams and Andy
Today, we are in Gibraltar, Great Britain. It is located at the southern tip of Spain and us only 8 miles from Morocco, Africa. In this picture, you'll see Africa on the left, Spain in the middle, and Gibraltar on the right. We went out on a small boat to look for dolphins. Here are some pictures that I was able to take of the dolphins. We are headed back to England now and will be going up into Norway starting on Saturday. See you then! From, Ms. Adams and Andy
Today, Andy and I visited a small village called Vissavona on the island of Corcisa. This village was at the top of a mountain that is over 3,000 feet high! It took us one hour to reach the top. While hiking around Vissavona, a bird came up to me and followed me around. I think it was attracted to the bright colors on my shoes. What do you think? Here is a picture of Andy looking out at the city of Ajaccio, where our ship docked. Tomorrow we will be at sea, traveling toward Gibraltar. When we arrive in Gibraltar on Wednesday, we will be going out on a small boat to look for dolphins. I hope I can get a picture if one with my camera to share with you. Talk to you Wednesday! From Ms. Adams and Andy
Andy and I visited a town called Herculaneum, Italy today. Herculaneum was a town that existed in the year 79. The town was destroyed when Mt. Vesuvius erupted that year and covered the town in lava. Once the lava cooled, the town of Herculaneum was gone. Almost 2000 years later, a family was digging on their land and discovered artifacts from the old town. A group of archaeologists came in and uncovered the town that had been preserved by the lava. Here are some pictures of Herculaneum. The mountain in the background of the pictures is Mt. Vesuvius. Before the volcano erupted, it stood at 9000 feet tall. After the eruption, it stands at 3300 feet tall.Tomorrow, we will be visiting the island of Corsica, France. See you then! From, Ms. Adams and Andy
Andy and I spent the day in Rome, Italy. The city of Rome is over 2,000 years old! The United States is less than 250 years old. Most of the buildings in Rome are far older than any building in the United States. On our bus ride into Rome, Andy found a sign that assured us that we were headed in the right direction. The sign that Andy found says Roma instead of Rome. Do you know why? If you do, ask your parents for permission and then leave me a comment with your answer. When we arrived in Rome, we visited the Spanish Steps. The Spanish Steps are a butterfly shaped stairway made of marble. They were named the Spanish Steps because the Embassy for the country of Spain is found right next to them. Here is a picture of the steps. Next, we walked to the Trevi Fountain where people toss coins into the fountain and make wishes. The church in Rome collects the money and gives 90% of it to charity and uses the other 10% to keep the fountain running. Here are some pictures of the fountain. Then, we went to one of the oldest buildings that is still standing in Rome called the Pantheon. It is made completely out of marble and is huge! We were able to go inside and I felt tiny standing in the middle of the room. Here are some pictures of the Pantheon. Our final stop in Rome was St. Peter's Square in Vatican City. Vatican City is the smallest country in the world and is found inside the city of Rome. When you enter Vatican city, you cross over a white, marble line. In the picture below, the country of Italy is on the right of the line and Vatican City is on the left. Inside the walls of Vatican City is St. Peter's Square. Within St. Peter's Square is the largest church in the world and seats 60,000 people. Here is Andy in front of the church called St. Peter's Basilica. Tomorrow, Andy and I will be visiting Herculaneum, Italy. I wonder if this place has anything to do with Hercules. Talk to you tomorrow! From, Ms. Adams and Andy
